Setup
Five steps, once.
After the first run, opening the app is the only thing you need to remember.

Install the app
Get CounterSpeech from Google Play on Android. It is a phone app — portrait, one screen at a time — and there is no browser version to install.

Create your CounterSpeech account
Email, a display name, and a password of at least ten characters. This is your CounterSpeech login, not your X login.

Add your public X @handle
Just the public @handle — never your X password. Connecting X is optional and only confirms that account. We do not store an X access token. After that, your first set is prepared.

Choose one topic
Pick what you want CounterSpeech to help with — misinformation, scams and fraud, AI and deepfakes, and others. It decides what turns up in your set, and you can change it later in Settings.

Open your set and post on X
Tap Start, read the reply, edit anything you like, then tap Post reply. X opens with your words ready and you decide whether to send it. About 30 seconds, and you’re done for the day.
Privacy & trust
What the app does, and does not, do.
No automatic posting
CounterSpeech cannot publish for you. It opens X with your reply, and you post it yourself — or don't.
No X password
We never ask for, collect, or store your X password. Connecting X is optional and stores only the verified account identity, not an X access token. Your public @handle and public posts shape your drafts.
Every draft is yours to change
Rewrite it, trim it, skip it, or report it as harmful, inaccurate, or not in your voice — in one tap, from the reply itself.
Leave whenever you want
Sign out from Settings, delete your account in the app, or email us and we'll do it for you.
