CounterSpeech helps you review AI-generated draft replies and posts for conversations on topics you choose — counterspeech, misinformation response, and respectful factual engagement. You review, edit, and post yourself on X. Nothing is posted automatically by CounterSpeech.
What we collect
- Account data — email, display name, password hash, and session tokens for your CounterSpeech login.
- Public X handle — the public @username you add (not your X password). Public @handle only — never your X password.
- Drafts and edits — AI draft text for your daily queue, edits you make, skip/done status, and optional draft problem reports.
- Voice style (Voice DNA) — communication-style traits learned from public posts and style samples. Style only; not ideology or protected traits as knowledge.
- Device / support signals — limited technical data needed for security, beta access, and troubleshooting (for example app version or error context you send).
- Notifications (optional) — if you allow notifications on a phone, we may collect an Expo push token and a device identifier so we can send CounterSpeech app notifications (for example when a queue is ready or access is approved). You can deny the permission. We do not sell this data. Invalid or unused tokens are revoked. Native push delivery stays idle until store credentials and a device token exist; denying notifications does not block using the app.
How we use data
- Generate suggested drafts for you to review
- Personalize writing style after you approve style updates
- Operate private beta access, support, and security
- Send optional app notifications using an Expo push token and device identifier, only if you allowed notifications
- Improve draft quality using reports and aggregate signals
- Enforce Community Guidelines and pause or disable accounts for misuse
What we do not do
- We do not collect or store your X password
- We do not post to X on your behalf
- We do not require X OAuth or X login in the product
- We do not log full AI prompt bodies by default in production
- We do not sell personal data
Your choices
You can edit or skip drafts, report a problem with a draft in the app, and deny notification permission. To delete your CounterSpeech account, use the section below. You remain responsible for anything you publish on X.
Delete your account
You can request deletion of your CounterSpeech account at any time.
Email [email protected]. Include the email address on the CounterSpeech account, and write that you want the account deleted. Use the subject line “Delete my CounterSpeech account”.
We delete or anonymize CounterSpeech account data (login details we store, the public X @handle stored with us, queue drafts and edits, draft reports, session data, and notification tokens) unless retention is legally or security required. We will not merely freeze the account. This does not delete posts you already published on X.
